They had just finished sharing a quiet tender moment on camera. Just minutes earlier Alex had stuck a piece of grass in his mouth pretending to be a farmer and Kenzie didn’t skip a beat. She quickly started pretending to mow the lawn as the two of them laughed uncontrollably. The joy they had was tangible. I let them know I wanted to try a lift pose next and Kenzie beamed at me, excited. Alex took notice. He smirked and willingly scooped her up. She instinctively popped her front leg, threw her arms around his neck and looked down to meet his smiling gaze. Neither one of them in any rush to get out of the pose. *Click* I captured the moment, I quickly glanced at my camera screen and saw they nailed it! I was giddy knowing how much Kenzie would like the picture. I looked up and Alex was still holding her, smiling as if he could hold here there forever. Just as I thought they couldn’t get any cuter, Alex hoisted his future bride over his shoulder and Kenzie would not stop giggling. She didn’t fight the moment. She was in it. Loving every second of it. After Alex had spun her around in a circle she whipped her head up to look at me with one of the brightest smiles I have ever seen. This is love.
Alex, I am so incredibly proud of the man you have become. You take genuine interest in each and every person you cross paths with. You have a way of making people laugh, feel seen and important. Kenzie hit the jackpot with you.
Kenzie, I am counting down the days until I get to stand by your side as you say “I do” to my little brother. I could not have hand picked a better woman for him myself. You radiate kindness and are beautiful both inside and out. You are patient, loving and always put others before yourself. Alex hit the jackpot with you.
The words that were inscribed in the walls at the Adriatica where we took these beautiful memories stuck out to me. “Love it Patient, Love is Kind, Love Never Fails”. This verse from 1 Corinthians has shaped and helped build a solid foundation for life long marriages over the world. It was only fitting that as we were celebrating your love, the words were there, quietly tucked away on a wall as a gentle reminder of truth. Love isn’t the ring, it isn’t the beautiful photographs we took, it isn’t even the incredible wedding you have planned in just a few short months. It is making a commitment to one another for the rest of your lives. It is choosing to be patient and choosing to be kind. To each other. To those around you. Even on those days where it feels impossible. I already see you living out this verse. It is my prayer that no matter the season you are in, you would remember those words.
Because LOVE never fails.
