Getting a request for an in-home lifestyle newborn session is quickly becoming the highlight of my day over here at Amanda Carter Photography.
There is something so special about entering a clients home and capturing them in their space. The kids are in their element, they are comfortable and they are proud to show off where they live. While your house *may* look a little tidier than it does on a regular basis… doing a session in your home means you have the ability to relive this fleeting season of parenthood for years and years to come through the photographs we take.
While we all like them, lifestyle sessions aren’t about perfectly posed images, they are about capturing the essence of a family.
Capturing who they are when no one is looking. For “boy mom” Ana of Boy Mom Society it meant attempting to get the holy grail picture of everyone smiling at the camera and realizing in this season it just might not happen. (and being ok with that!). It meant jumping on the couch, being silly, and reading books. It meant living in the moment and having fun as a family of 6. (Can you believe Ana is outnumbered 5 to 1?!)
It was sweet to see how gentle their oldest Gabriel was with baby Caleb, taking pride in leading his brothers by example. How Ezra adored attention and wanted to help with everything. And how Kai, no longer the youngest was so full of personality, curious and headstrong, clearly still trying to hold on to his spot as the baby 🙂
Despite already being about 3 weeks old and surrounded by 3 loud brothers, baby Caleb was the perfect model, sleeping nearly the entire time. I loved when he opened his big brown eyes and looked right at the camera. It was as if he was saying “hello world!”.
I love this quote from Boy Mom Society:
“Hold him a little longer, rock him a little more. Read him another story, you’ve already read him four… Let him sleep on your shoulder, rejoice in his happy smile, he is only a little boy for such a little while.”
Ana & David, you made parenting 4 boys look simple. You were patient, joyful, and loving with each of your children. Your boys had such good manners and were so kind and full of life. It was an absolute joy spending some of my day with you! I hope you love your pictures!
